BG and I were in and out the front door the other night watching a storm roll in. After it started raining, we were standing just inside when she noticed an invader.
I have finally finished the last of the suggested edits I have for my book. Those are edits I’ve gotten from my two beta readers. I also managed to get a last complete read through completed once those were done to make sure the changes I made didn’t mess anything up in the process.
All that means is that I’m now at the point where I need to hire an editor and a cover designer. I don’t have either one picked out yet, so that means it is time to do some heavy duty research. I know what I’ll be working on next week!
I don’t think I’ve ever looked at a dandelion close enough to notice the tiny little curled spirals on the ends of the petals. I’ve never realized how pretty they can be.
The first year we were in this house, I planted a bunch of spring bulbs. Tulips, Hyacinths, Crocus and Daffodils. The following year, I had a decent showing, then… nothing. I think something must have gotten to them, because almost nothing came up after that and I never bothered to replant.
These pale pink Hyacinths have this really interesting gel like translucence to them. I think it may be because they’ve been through a couple of freezes and are nearly done for the year, but it leaves them looking almost alien in appearance.
Today is the only day this week and probably next that the weather is actually sunny and nice. I took a few moments to get out and grab actual proof that Spring is here and that I have some color before the predicted snow. Yes, snow. In April. For the second time. My poor Hyacinths probably won’t survive the second round and the freezing temps we are supposed to get. I needed some evidence that I actually had some flowers this Spring. *sigh*
Then, Mother Nature decided to play one hell of an April Fool’s prank. Letting us believe spring was finally here and warmer weather and sunny days on their way. Psych! Nope! Not yet puny mortals!
Yesterday, I took BG and a couple of her friends out shopping. BG needed some clothes for the coming warm weather and I thought it would be fun to have her friends come a long, go to lunch and make it a day. It was so awesome and those kids are crazy fun. I love that my daughter has such amazing friends.
My lilac is starting to bud out, so I’m hoping even more that we are done with all the freezing temps. I’m scarce this week as my kids and Hubby are all home for spring break.
Happy Spring Everyone!
Hubby spent the day yesterday getting our front flower beds cleaned up and mulched. It looks so clean and fresh, just waiting for all the flowers to really pop up and be the highlight. I am so impatient and ready for all the color that is waiting just below the ground to burst out into the light.
Yes, I know. It is still technically winter, but… the flowers! They are starting to pop up. We can be done with all the freezing, now, right? We can also keep the gorgeous weather that lets me open my windows and finally get some fresh air into the house.
I am just starting to see the tops of these beginning to poke through. It won’t be long now before those and more are up and adding color to the drab landscape. I am in desperate need for some color to help yank me out of the funk I’ve been in the last several weeks. I am finally ready to see the end of winter even though it feels wrong to not have gotten much of any kind of snow this season. One of the reasons I love the area we live in is because we get to fully experience all of the seasons, but it has felt like all we got out of winter this year was cold, weird and dreary. I am done with that. Bring me some warmth and some color please.
