The photo is from earlier in the year, but it popped up in on my computer background and I wanted to see if it would make a nice high contrast black and white. It does indeed!

After not being able to work on that pendant yesterday and complaining rather loudly to Hubby, I realized that I was going to be way too frustrated by the time he got home to just borrow his reading glasses to work on it. That and he would need to take them with him when he went to work today so I broke down and we went and picked me up a pair after he got home so I don’t have to worry about stealing his. *Sigh* He and the kids could not let it go without at least a dozen “granny glasses” comments, so it is official. I have “granny glasses”. At least I can see to do what I need to do and I’ll be trying it again today.
It’s funny. I tried to see if it made a difference in what I can read, thinking maybe things really hadn’t been as clear as I’d believed. Uh, no. Not even close. I cannot read with those suckers on. I can see the individual lines of the tiny wires I need to see, but forget trying to wear them for anything else, so I guess I don’t feel quite so bad. Lots of jewelers need to use loupes and magnifiers to see some of that tiny detail work, so I shouldn’t be so upset that I need a little help as well.
This week’s to do list is long. Full of things I need to do and appointments. I’ll be taking breaks as I can to enjoy the flowers starting to come up, keeping my fingers crossed that we don’t get the late freeze everyone keeps saying is possible.
It is a beautiful day. My windows are open. I am a happy camper today.
My kids are on spring break this week. Normally, this would just be a quiet week with them hanging out, being lazy in their rooms playing games. This year, BG has decided she wants to do things instead. She watched movies with me yesterday, has plans for a friend to come over today and out to do something with another friend tomorrow. All while I’m working on going back and forth with my cover designer. All that just to say… I’m busy right now. Sheesh!!
These pale pink Hyacinths have this really interesting gel like translucence to them. I think it may be because they’ve been through a couple of freezes and are nearly done for the year, but it leaves them looking almost alien in appearance.
Today is the only day this week and probably next that the weather is actually sunny and nice. I took a few moments to get out and grab actual proof that Spring is here and that I have some color before the predicted snow. Yes, snow. In April. For the second time. My poor Hyacinths probably won’t survive the second round and the freezing temps we are supposed to get. I needed some evidence that I actually had some flowers this Spring. *sigh*
Yesterday, I took BG and a couple of her friends out shopping. BG needed some clothes for the coming warm weather and I thought it would be fun to have her friends come a long, go to lunch and make it a day. It was so awesome and those kids are crazy fun. I love that my daughter has such amazing friends.
Hubby spent the day yesterday getting our front flower beds cleaned up and mulched. It looks so clean and fresh, just waiting for all the flowers to really pop up and be the highlight. I am so impatient and ready for all the color that is waiting just below the ground to burst out into the light.
Yes, I know. It is still technically winter, but… the flowers! They are starting to pop up. We can be done with all the freezing, now, right? We can also keep the gorgeous weather that lets me open my windows and finally get some fresh air into the house.
I am just starting to see the tops of these beginning to poke through. It won’t be long now before those and more are up and adding color to the drab landscape. I am in desperate need for some color to help yank me out of the funk I’ve been in the last several weeks. I am finally ready to see the end of winter even though it feels wrong to not have gotten much of any kind of snow this season. One of the reasons I love the area we live in is because we get to fully experience all of the seasons, but it has felt like all we got out of winter this year was cold, weird and dreary. I am done with that. Bring me some warmth and some color please.
