Feast Or Famine

Apparently I did more than unplug over the holidays. I also seem to have tripped right into a creative desert.

For the first time in probably over a year, my creative brain is quiet. After the non-stop, constant, never ending project list of last year, I’m not complaining. I was in need of a break and some quiet time. But it feels weird to not have a ton of things running circles in my head at all times.

I still have a list of projects I want to work on, but none of them are time sensitive or pressing. I’ll get to them when I get to them. Honestly, at this point, I feel as though my brain would cramp if I even attempted to get into full creative mode.

Until that changes, I’m taking a huge break and just being lazy. Reading a few books. Playing some silly games that my kids give me so much crap about being “old people” games. Occasionally dipping my toe into something creative by doing some edits on BG’s senior photo project that is ongoing. Basically just being chill and trying to be in the moment a bit more.

I will have to do more than dip my toe into that creative pool by next month for BG’s birthday cake. Since it will be 18, she is adamant that it be “extra” somehow.

Until then, my creative brain will be resting and resetting.

  1. I was beginning to worry about you NOT taking a break. So glad to know that worry was unwarranted. Enjoy it for as long as you can, before you or others try to convince you to get back on the treadmill.

    1. I think I went into full hibernation mode. I tend to hit a wall after projects and crash for a day or two, but I never felt like I hit that at any point through the last year. Guess it all finally caught up with me. I’m sure I’ll be dragging myself back out into the light of day again soon.

      1. Take your time. Everything will still be there when you’re ready to get back to it. Unfortunately, nothing happens on its own and it doesn’t go anywhere until you move it either.
