Barberry Flowers

Barberry Flowers

I’d had my barberry bushes for almost 15 years before I realized that they put on these tiny flowers in the spring. They tend to sit a little under the leaves, so it was easy to overlook the fact that the odd coloring you see in the spring wasn’t just the bush leafing out before gaining color.

I am a slightly sane artist, amateur photographer, book addict, wife, mom and raging introvert. I have more hobbies than I can count, so it is beyond shocking that I manage to find time to do any of them, let alone most of them and still have time to do anything else. Of all the talents I claim, writing wasn’t one of them until my muse dropped the idea for a book on my head.

    1. These will turn that deeper red/burgundy after the flowers are done. I just never really got up close enough to see the flowers until last year (maybe the year before?). It was one of those fun little surprises you weren’t expecting.
