Bake Sale Time Again!

It is that time of year. The bake sale at Hubby’s work is next week and I’ve committed to participating again. They have informed Hubby they are making sure to bring in extra tables this year so they have room for everything. They also said some crazy nice things about the cupcakes in the email announcement for the sale. No pressure.

I really wanted to do something different this year, but I have my standards that are expected, so those HAVE to be made. The chocolate cream cheese cupcakes and the pumpkin cupcakes are a must. I’ll also be doing my candied pecans and peanut butter cookies. I’d love to do an additional cupcake, but I just don’t know what to do that is different enough from the other two and still fit the season. I have decided to attempt some sugar cookies since those came out so well around the holidays last year. If they don’t turn out as pretty as I hope, oh well! I guess we will just have to eat them.

Bake sale time also means not a whole lot of time for other stuff. I’m going to try and keep up with things here on the blog, but I might go quiet for a couple of days. I will be posting some photos of the mess along the way. The recipes for my standards are already on the blog, but I’ll link to those as I get them done.

    1. They do this every year to raise money for the families they adopt for the holidays. All the employees that want to contribute send stuff in and they sell the items to anyone in the company that wants a treat. It’s a fun event for a good cause.

      1. That’s awesome! What a great idea. I always loved bake sales at school until they were banned because someone decided food from unsupervised kitchens might be a problem. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Thanks ‘fun police’ for ruining this.

      2. It has always been my extreme frustration that I couldn’t do the baked goods for my kids at school. When Hubby started working here and found they did this, I was crazy excited. That first year he was adamant that I was trying to send in to much and refused to take it all. They sold out of my cupcakes in an hour. Now he just takes what I give him.

      3. It was so funny when he texted me, absolutely stunned they sold that quickly. I don’t know why (though, I really was too). In all the years that I’ve sent my cupcakes to work with him, he has never had to bring leftovers home. He has one co-worker that has begged very nicely to ask me to make them for her birthday a few times when they worked together at another company. Still, I think that we both just kind of thought people were just being nice.

I laugh at him every year when he sees the size and number of boxes I ask him to take, because it seems to grow each year. This year, he doesn’t have to try and cram them into his tiny economy car (that has been passed down to our 17 year old). Instead, he has a nice little SUV with a big storage area in the back to take them all. He can no longer use the excuse that he doesn’t have room.

This is the one time of year that I get to have a blast doing what I love and getting to see so many people enjoying it. It isn’t as fun when I can’t share it with others, so I tend to got a little overboard.

    1. I have it in my recipe section, but I’ll be linking to it when I go to bake these if you don’t want to hunt for it. I use peanut butter chips in mine and it makes a world of difference.

    1. BG and I looked through some options and I’m going to try a maple cupcake with a maple buttercream. I’ve never done it before, so it will be interesting. I looked at an applesauce kind of cupcake, but I’m the only apple fan in the family and if they didn’t turn out good enough to send in, I’d have to eat them all. Not that I’m complaining really, but… I’m going to be eating a ton of junk over the next several days.
