On My TBR – July 2019 Edition

I normally don’t have a set TBR as I tend to pick up and read what I’m in the mood for at the time. I do have several lists in various different genres that I’ll use to pick from when I’m in the mood for that particular genre or I just go dig through new releases or new additions to my local library.

Now that I’m getting ARCs and picking up more books based on what I’m seeing other bloggers reading, I’ve decided to try and keep an actual TBR. These are the books I’m looking to read in the near future. Knowing me and my reading habits, this list is likely to change drastically within a week or two, but we will see how it goes if I shoot for a full month. I seriously doubt these will be the only books I read this month and there is a chance one or two get the procrastination shove to the bottom of the list, but it is a place to start.

So, what is currently on my shelf:

    1. I’m not normally a scheduler because it tweaks my tendency to follow a mood. It seems to be worse with books, in part because I blow through most lists I’d put together in less time than it took to make the list. That and the mood I’m in when making said list could change and I’d not want to read a single book on that list any time soon. This is going to be a interesting experiment for me.

      1. I totally get what you mean. I wish I could blow through lists though. I think that’s the kind of problem I need. Right now I feel like I’m not even touching a list that I put together myself because I just don’t want to get to those books anytime soon. Not sure why honestly. I think it will be interesting to see how making a TBR goes for you 🙂

      2. I’m a fast reader and I have way too much time most days, less so now that it’s summer and my kids want to actually speak to me. Crazy high schoolers! Don’t they know I’m READING! Ha!

      3. Isn’t it crazy!? Nah, my kids are awesome. I adore that they want to speak to me and spend time with me, even when they disturb my reading.

Reading that fast has its downsides as well. I blow through so many books sometimes, I end up reading stuff I’m not all that jazzed about, just to have something to read because I’ve already read (and reread in some cases) all the ones I really wanted to and have to wait for new releases.
