We’ve Got Pumpkins!

Normally, I’m so far ahead of the game that I already have the idea for both my pumpkin and my costume by the beginning of October at the very latest. This year I had neither and was even very seriously considering skipping the garage set up and not dressing up at all. I was just too stressed and overwhelmed and every bit of my creative energy seemed to be focused on the book and edits with nothing left for Halloween.

Yesterday I needed to get the pumpkins cleaned and ready to carve so I spent some time looking for an idea for mine and got hit with a creative burst managing to get both the plan for the pumpkin and the costume knocked out. Considering we are only a couple of days away, that was cutting it way too close. Luckily I found everything I needed for my costume or I’d have just been out of luck with no time left to actually go and get anything.

BG kept her ballet theme going in her pumpkin this year. Instead of just pointe shoes, she did the whole ballerina. It turned out amazing. I’m kind of floored that she managed the detail that she did as her pumpkin had some pretty thick walls.

MC also kicked butt on his pumpkin. Those are such tiny lines he had to cut. Everything is staying in place as of right now. We will see if both his and mine make it through tomorrow night.

I attempted a 360 again this year. I’m pleased with it, though I really don’t think it is going to look great by tomorrow night. At least in places. It was a bit of a chore to get it all cut and not fall apart, but so far it’s holding.

And of course I couldn’t do this without having something go to hell. I had JUST finished cleaning out the last pumpkin and was rinsing out the sink when I noticed said sink not draining. Poor hubby, that happened at the moment the he is pulling into the garage and he had to walk in from work to start working on trying to unclog our drain pipe (a somewhat regular occurrence). Normally he can get it with a bit of effort, but it hasn’t been so easy this time and he had to take the day off to try and fix it. *sigh* Can we be done with house problems now?

At least I have pumpkins! Even if Hubby didn’t get to carve his.

    1. Thanks! Now I just have to finish that garage and I’m beginning to think the idea of not doing it this year was the better one. Not sure how many more years I’m going to keep doing it.
