Water Spotted Ceiling

So, I’m in my last day of getting the house ready for the new windows tomorrow. I’m taking down the last of the curtains in the living room when I notice something on the ceiling. I turn to look and I have a nice line of water spots, nearly across the entire length of the room.

If I hadn’t been up on a step ladder at the time, I probably would have chucked the curtain, rod and all, straight across the room. I was so frickin’ pissed. Water? Really? Where in the ever lovin’ hell did that come from? I did some running of the layout of the upstairs through my head, knowing where certain pipes ran and narrowed it down to MC’s bathroom. Turns out that his shower head was busted and water ran down the wall and behind the plate on the wall where the controls are mounted.

I will NEVER understand why in the hell that isn’t sealed off. It isn’t in ANY of the showers in the house. It is a shower FFS! In the middle of the wall. You know, where water gets? But, no. That must have been some random upgrade that they didn’t tell us about that we could have paid probably $5k extra per shower to have them do.

I knew the lack of being sealed was a thing, but never thought I really needed to worry about it because there should be little to no water actually running down that wall (though I spray the crap out of mine when I clean ours and I assume the kids do, too), but I never thought about what would happen when the shower head fails and half the water used in a normal shower actually does run down that wall.

At least, this is what I’ve come to believe is the problem. It has now been fixed, in between the million other things I needed to do today, so I guess we will see if that mess ever completely dries or if there is actually a much bigger, much worse problem. So far, things look to be drying and not getting worse.

It is one of those funny, but so not funny kind of things. We are getting new windows to prevent any more water from getting in from outside (well, at least one of the MANY reasons) and I still get in water. Just from inside this time. It is one more example of everything hitting all at once because my damn vacuum cleaner decided to crap out on me in the last month, too.

I now apparently need to add “Paint Living Room Ceiling” to my list because that shit is going to stain.

I have more hobbies than I can count, so it is beyond shocking that I manage to find time to do any of them, let alone most of them and still have time to do anything else. Of all the talents I claim, writing wasn’t one of them until my muse dropped the idea for a book on my head.

    1. There was no water after MC’s shower this morning, so… looks like the problem is fixed. I think I have some of our ceiling paint, but I’m not certain. If I don’t, there is a very real possibility that means an entire repaint of the living room ceiling. Thank goodness there are divides between it and other rooms or that would be an awful task.

      1. I’m hoping that you can easily paint what needs to be done. Thank goodness the problem is fixed. Sorry for the extra aggravation, but at least it’s not worse because you found it now and not later. Big hugs
