Continuing Editor Search And Cover Design Ideas

My old fashioned daylilies are in full bloom right now. I have a tiered bed that is literally exploding with them (as in it is so full they are starting to try and find homes outside of that bed).

After spending a lot of time angsting over the editor issue and talking with Hubby, I’ve decided to contact a few more just to kind of get a feel for how I want to move on this. I was stupidly ecstatic when I ran across one guy that I absolutely adore his writing style because I think his personality would be a perfect fit. He also isn’t nearly as expensive so I might feel a bit better about cost with him. There is another I will be talking to later today. So fingers crossed that these conversations will help me figure out where to go from here.

On another note, I dragged BG outside at sunset last night to play with some concept photos for my cover. The goal wasn’t to get THE image I would use, but just to play around with the idea I had to see if I thought I’d be able to pull it off. I was off the wall giddy with the results. I think I just might be able to pull this off and have one of my own images on the cover of my book. Considering that is my ideal scenario, I was so excited when I off-loaded the images from my camera and saw how close even that quick and dirty session got me.

I also learned that I wasn’t actually shooting at the highest quality my camera could shoot at. I’ve had this camera for probably 8? 10? years and I’m just now figuring that out. I am fully aware that the age of my camera means that there is much better out there, but it is still a damn good camera and should give me what I need.

After being so stressed the last few days, I am now feeling a little bit better about this whole project. I’m sure I’m going to keep hitting those bumps in the road along the way, but I’ll take this momentary lull to feel good about it.

  1. After reading your last post, I was just about to suggest you work on your own image/s for the cover. You take such beautiful photographs – it makes sense!

    1. Thank you! I had thought it would be great initially, but I didn’t have an image that would work and didn’t think I’d be able to get a shot at the right time of year before I needed a cover. Things took way longer than I originally thought (thanks in part to lots of procrastination) and it now works out perfectly, so I’m really excited to play, probably starting next week.
