After taking my lazy day yesterday, I’m back to working on my giant nutcracker project.
I learned a few things after working on this last week.
*Spray paint creates a nasty, invasive dust that gets EVERYWHERE and is a pain in the ass to clean up.
*Spray paint fumes can overtake an entire house even when you open the door to air things out. My house is just now getting back to normal. Just in time for more painting.
My goal for today is to get everything painted with the exception of the finer details that have to wait until this is assembled and start working on the base structure for putting these together. While I don’t have a ton of painting left to do, it will be a bit time consuming because I need to let the parts dry between coats and I’m being extremely careful to keep the different colors in different areas until the dust settles so I don’t have any color contamination.
So far, things are still looking good, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed as I haven’t had to tackle anything truly difficult yet.
“…but I’m keeping my fingers crossed as I haven’t had to tackle anything truly difficult yet.” – I giggled.
If you can get this far in the project, which is well beyond my crafting capabilities and imagination, you got this!

I have been known to think bigger than my ability and I’m worried this may be one of those times.
