Today’s Labor

Hubby’s work always does a bake sale where employee’s or their spouses can bring baked goods in and then buy stuff other people made. The proceeds go to sponsor a couple of families for the holidays. This is one of my favorite things to participate in because I get to go all out. Baking. Decorating. Coming up with cool ways to package it all. I love it because I get to play in lots of my different creative arenas.

Peanut Butter Cookies

I worked on this all day yesterday and today. Just finished this afternoon and managed to get it all packaged up. Now we just have to figure out how the hell Hubby is getting it all to work in the morning (because, yet again, I have made WAY too much). This year I’ve done my usual one batch of Chocolate Cream Cheese Cupcakes, 2 batches of Pumpkin Cupcakes with Caramel Cream Cheese Icing (will post recipe in a few days), 2 batches of Peanut Butter Cookies with Peanut Butter Chips and a batch of Chocolate Covered Cherry Cake Pops (also, recipe coming).

I am so done now. Can I sleep for a week?

  1. TJ, I’m awestruck! Do you have your own baking business that I didn’t realize? So professional and so lovely that you are donating for someone else. I just love that about you and your big heart and talented baking!

    1. No business. I just do it for fun. One of the things Hubby has commented on the in past is that people will bake stuff and just send it in without any kind of packaging to make it easy to take home. I looked at all the craft stores and the only containers you can get for mini cupcakes is the full dozen (that is a lot for people to buy when there are so many things to choose from). The last couple of years, I’ve made do with other treat boxes and fit 8, but it was never cleanly (presentation is kind of my thing). I did some research and found a place that sold all different kinds of boxes and inserts and they didn’t require any kind of business license to purchase, so I bought a bunch since I’m always needing to send cupcakes along or to neighbors. For me, this is fun. I love baking and I love to make things look pretty. The cool thing is that the people that run the sale always like the fact that I do this. I told Hubby that next year I’m sending in extra, empty boxes so more people can have the option of taking stuff home rather than just eating it at work.

      1. You are really talented TJ! I love how you think! I would be buying all of your items just because they are presented with such care and enthusiasm! Great job! It shows how much you enjoy it!

      2. The first couple of years I did this, Hubby refused to take all that I made saying that there were already so many things. When my stuff sold out within half an hour, he finally agreed to just suck it up and take what I told him too! LOL! Took a little longer this year because I did send so much, but I was still one of the first to sell out.
